Bye Bye Bumps (add-on treatment) – $20
This 15-minute treatment is gentle enough to do right after a sugaring session. Also can be done on areas prone to ingrown associated with shaving. Salicylic acid helps to control and soften sebum in the hair follicle. Lactic acid delivers a moisturizing exfoliation and helps with discoloration of the skin. Green coffee helps to improve skin elasticity while aloe vera helps to soothe and moisturize.
Hair Removal – FAQs
We highly recommend that waxing be done every 4 weeks for best results and with sugaring, it be done every 3-4 weeks.
Hair Removal Contraindications
It is important that your Esthetician know at all times any medications that you are taking or have previously taken and/or any skin products that you are using. This can ensure a safe and successful hair removal experience. If you are taking or have taken any of these medications within the past three months, we need to talk. Please call me before scheduling an appointment. Any of the below may cause the skin to thin or to be extra sensitive to any method of hair removal. Thin, sensitive skin can lift or bruise.
Topical creams/gels that can affect:
Any prescription and over the counter Retin-A (Retinols, Retinoids, Vitamin A), Avita(Treatinoin), Azelex Finacea(Azelaic Acid), Renova, Atinac, Avage, Differin(Adapelene), Epiduo(Adapelene + Benzoyl Peroxide), Topical Antibiotics like Erythromycin, Clindamycin, Benzamycin, Metronidazole and prescription topical steroid creams.
Any of the above must be discontinued 14 days prior to any hair removal service.
Systemic medications that can affect any waxing service:
Accutane – Must discontinue use for one or more years prior to being waxed.
Prednisone, oral steroids and oral antibiotics – Must discontinue use 14 days prior to hair removal.
Blood Thinning Medications – i.e – Coumadin, Warfarin – Consult your physician.
Products containing:
Alpha-hydroxy acid, Glycolic acid, Salicylic acid, Hydroquinone, Mandelic acid, Benzoyl peroxide,
You must discontinue use for 48 hours prior to being waxed.
If you are taking medication or using a product that has changed your skin in any way, and you are unsure about the safety of waxing, please talk to your doctor first.
Laser hair removal, Laser resurfacing, injectable fillers and plastic surgery
You will meed to wait 2 weeks post-treatment or length doctor recommends before hair removal.
For facial services like chemical peels or other exfoliating treatments, you will need to wait 7 days post treatment.
How do I prepare for my Sugaring/Waxing/Threading appointment?
- Do not shave/trim hair. You want to keep hair on the same growth cycle for maximum benefits.
- Make sure area(s) to be waxed is free of lotions/oils/etc.
- Do not work out before getting hair removal service.
- Make sure your hair is long enough. 1/4″ is best which is usually 2 weeks of growth.
- Double check with me regarding medications you may be on to ensure best waxing or sugaring results.
How long should my hair be?
Hair growth should be at least ¼”, which is usually about 2 weeks growth. Don’t shave or trim hair because at the shorter lengths the hair is very stiff and difficult to remove. It is also advised not to shave/trim/tweeze between appointments to keep hair on the same growth cycle.
What should I expect the first time I get a bikini wax?
The specific procedure requires you to either remove your underwear or if possible squeeze it down so that it is only a thin vertical strip. If the waxing also includes the area around the buttocks, you’ll want to be prepared to roll over. The first time tends to have a bit more discomfort than subsequent waxing appointments. Pinpoint bleeding at the site of the hair removal can occur as little dots of red if your hair is especially thick or hard. It is normal to see some redness which will generally go away in a few hours.
Can I still be waxed or sugared while on my period?
Yes we still do waxing/sugaring on your cycle , even for those clients who are get Bikini or Brazilian. Clients chose to wear a tampon if having a bikini session. We have plenty of clients who still come in during this time.
Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker, darker or heavier?
No, it will not. Waxing removes the hair by the root, often weakening the root in process. Therefore, if anything, waxing may make the hair finer and sparser with repeated regular hair removal treatments and proper home care.
Are there any special instructions?
Yes. If you are waxing for the first time for an event or special occasion, we strongly recommend scheduling the same service 4 weeks PRIOR to make sure you have no adverse reactions on the big day! Also:
- Avoid the use a tanning bed/lay out in the sun right before and after hair removal treatments. You’re skin is exfoliated and more susceptible to burns.
- Avoid workouts for at least 24 hours after waxing or sugaring as this can cause breakouts/bumps to appear while the follicles are still open. Sweat will form and any bacteria on any machines may get on freshly exfoliated skin causing possible infections as well.
- Avoid heat (saunas, hot baths, and steam) for at least 24 hours after waxing or sugaring.
- Avoid using products with fragrance (natural or not) on area you had hair removal. This can cause irritation to the skin.
What if I am pregnant, can I still get waxed?
Yes. It is recommended to wax consistently throughout our pregnancy instead of waiting until just until delivery date. You may be a little more sensitive than usual, but I regularly wax mothers-to-be up to a week before their due date unless your doctor says otherwise.
We highly recommend checking with your doctor first to ensure any body hair removal is safe for you during pregnancy, especially if you have history of high risk pregnancy issues.
What is the difference between Bikini, Extended Bikini & Brazilian?
Bikini removes hair outside of panty line extending to crease of thigh.
Extended Bikini leaves a strip of hair down the middle and no inner backside.
Brazilian removes all hair including inner backside (sometimes clients prefer some hair be left in front or no inner backside done).
