Stressed Skin

Stressed skin? Here’s what we’re going to do.

Is your skin stressed?  Stressed skin is a real thing, it can cause dryness, flaking, breakouts, aging & more.  We did another post about how to prevent stress from impacting your skin awhile back. Here’s a link in case you missed it.

Just like our mind and body, our skin reacts to stress. COVID-19 is clearly causing unusual stress and unusual circumstances for many of us so PREVENTING stress might be tough right now.  That said, I’m not surprised that I’ve been hearing from some of you with skin care concerns.

Not to worry though!  Even though I can’t see you in the studio, I can still help you from afar.

Here’s What We’re Going To Do

Let’s Look at Your Routine

Are you doing your skin care routine twice a day?  It’s easy to let that slip so be sure you’re properly cleansing and applying your products twice per day.

Then, consider adding a double wash into your routine at night.  Even if you’ve just been around the house and haven’t worn makeup, there’s still environmental buildup on your skin.  If it’s not removed, it can build up and accelerate aging, breakouts and more.

Here’s a quick video I did of myself doing a double wash!   Take note of how I’m going over each area of my multiple times and I’m using circular motions to really make sure my cleanser is able to get to work.

Stick To Your Regime

As I just mentioned, it’s easy for us to rationalize that we don’t need to do as much skin care if we aren’t wearing makeup or even leaving the house, but trust me, it’s in your best interest to stick to your regime!

That said, I know some of you are out of work and I realize that might mean money is tight.  If you’re trying to stretch your products or you need to come up with a plan to maximize the products you have left, contact me.

Or if you’re running low on stuff, let me know!  I can ship products to you.

Add Ins

If you’re open to having me send you some products, let’s talk about what we can add in to help get your skin back on track.

I have a number of different products that can address specific issues so if you tell me about what’s going on with your skin, I can recommend some additional products to try at home.

Stay Hydrated and Get a Balanced Diet

Easier said than done right?  I know I’ve been grabbing more of my favorite comfort foods more than usual and let’s not forget the wine….oh the wine!  It’s a stressful time and we’re all coping in different ways, but if you’re noticing your skin is stressed and you want to get it back on track before this quarantine is lifted, try to get back to staying hydrated and eating a balanced diet….so that 3rd row of cookies probably isn’t a great idea.

Sleep

Unfortunately we’ve got some time on our hands during this pandemic, so if you can, take a nap and make sure you’re getting enough sleep each night.  Sleep plays a big role in our overall health. You need to give your body a chance to recoup. Getting 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night is critical so if you’re staying up too late binge watching your favorite Netflix shows, it might be starting to show…on your skin!

Bottom Line

Even though I can’t see you in the studio right now, I can still help.  If your skin is stressed from all that’s going on, email me. I’m happy to talk and help you figure out what’s going on and if you need products, I’m open for retail sales.
